The Transcontinental Rail Road

Food 

The workers on the rail road were mainly Chinese and Irish immigrants. Each gang of workers had a cook who would buy dried up food to cook for the workers, the cook would go to Sacramento and San Francisco. The Irish food mainly stood of boiled food of beef and potatoes. While the Chinese worker's food was vegetables and seafood, they also kept live chickens and and pigs for big meals on the weekend.

Benefits 

Made traveling over to the west much much more easier and cheaper for people, which lead to towns, cites, and towns formed at the west. The transcontinental rail road brought in money and income to the government and business was booming in small towns. Thousands of immigrants moving into america for a new life all because of the rail road that was being built. This rail road kick started america into the country it is today. communication was much easier which made the west part of america bringing the country together and not separate from California.
